2nd Grade News
The students showed what they learned about plants this week by making models of a plant and explaining the different parts. The class also started to look at three-digit numbers and place value. Midterm is today. I will email the progress reports on Sunday. Don’t forget to have your child return their reading log on Monday. Students are expected to read 15 minutes each day. A number of 2nd grade students either do not have headphones, or their headphones don’t work. Please make sure your child has working headphones at school. We use them daily for different activities. Did you know that babysitting is available the evening of All Saints’ Fest on November 2nd? It’s only $15 per child and available at school from 5:15 to 11 P.M.. Remember you can purchase tickets for this evening beginning Sept. 15 at $40 per person. The ticket includes a fine meal, fellowship, and the chance to bid on some great items. Watch for committee members selling tickets before school and on Sunday mornings. Or you can pick up a form, fill it out, and turn it into the school office with your payment. Donations for auction are accepted at any time. Incidentally, the first 100 people purchasing tickets will get a coupon for a free glass of wine the night of the event.. Also ask any ASF committee member about the Disney tickets incentive! You can email the committee at [email protected] Join Instagram to see pictures of what we are doing in 2nd grade. My username is mrsstafford2nd. I have not been good this week with taking pictures. I will do better next week. Next Week at a Glance Next week we will go back to Social Studies. We will be reading and learning about our Government. As we are reading about our Government, we will also be working on drawing conclusions and making predictions. In Math the class will finish looking at place value and start on two-digit addition. This can be a bit tricky for some students. If your child struggles with this encourage them to stay positive and keep trying. Our class will be reading about the battle of Jericho and Gideon. We will focus on God being on our side.
