2nd Grade News
This week we started our Government unit. We learned about leaders, and how we elect leaders. We also started two-digit addition. Everyone understood the concept of regroup when we have too many ones. Let’s see if they remember on Monday. A number of 2nd grade students either do not have headphones, or their headphones don’t work. Please make sure your child has working headphones at school. We use them daily for different activities. Did you know that babysitting is available the evening of All Saints’ Fest on November 2nd? It’s only $15 per child and available at school from 5:15 to 11 P.M.. Remember you can purchase tickets for this evening beginning Sept. 15 at $40 per person. The ticket includes a fine meal, fellowship, and the chance to bid on some great items. Watch for committee members selling tickets before school and on Sunday mornings. Or you can pick up a form, fill it out, and turn it into the school office with your payment. Donations for auction are accepted at any time. Incidentally, the first 100 people purchasing tickets will get a coupon for a free glass of wine the night of the event.. Also ask any ASF committee member about the Disney tickets incentive! You can email the committee at [email protected] Join Instagram to see pictures of what we are doing in 2nd grade. Our focus will be the three branches of government. As we are reading about our Government, we will also be working on drawing conclusions and making predictions. In Math the class will practice two-digit addition. Knowing basic facts really helps a child out with multiple-digit addition and subtraction. If you child struggles with their basic facts, you may want to get some flashcards and have them practice. Our class will be reading about the battle of Gideon and Ruth. We will focus on God being on our side.
